What could be better than sweeping the Red Sox? I know, sweeping the Yankees, but what a great series.
All my heroes came out to play. I was so glad to see Craig Gentry getting some playing time. He was essential in Saturdays win. But, Cruz, Beltre, Kinsler, Pierzynski and Berkman were all outstanding, as well as the pitching. I was afraid Washington had left Darvish in a little too long on Sunday, but being the stellar pitching talent he is, Yu pulled it off.
While I'm raggin' on Wash, let me just say, he needs to be a little harder on Elvis. Make him take batting practice, and run the bases. And if that doesn't set a fire under him, BENCH HIM! I think Baker could play well at any position, so bench that little girl, until he starts taking it seriously. just sayin'....
For all you little girls out there, I apologize.
Also, I hope Murphy is feeling better and back in the game tonight. We need him.

It Happens

We all have our ups and downs, and sometimes we just get tired. If you haven't guessed, I'm making excuses for my Rangers.
This was a less than stellar weekend for Texas, to say the least, but it happens. I'm confident things will get better.

My daughter and I were at the game against the Mariners, when Nelson Cruz hit his Grand Slam. That was an enjoyable game. Several players hit home runs, including baby faced Martin. We had great seats, behind home plate and right next to the Tecate vendor. I thought of a game I attended, many years ago, against the Mariners. That night, I saw Juan Gonzales, Pudge, and Jose Conseco, all hit a home run, and Conseco had three. I was so glad that was the game we had chosen to see, because they got murdered by the Mariners, the next two nights. See? Like my two year old nephew, Joaquin says, It happens.

Yu Is Kind, Yu Is Smart, Yu Is Important

The first two games of the season have been wild adrenalin pumping, and completely surprising.
First of all, let me say, the Houston Astros are my second favorite team. They have had a tough couple of years and it would be nice to see them do well, just not against the Rangers.
Being their home opener and first game in the American League, I suppose it was good for them to win.

But last night, even though the Rangers won, it was an exciting, nail biting and huge disappointment for Yu Darvish fans. Yu, himself, didn't seem to understand what was going on until late in the seventh, but he was one strike away from pitching a perfect game. It was heartbreaking.

Don't give up on Darvish, yet. I have a feeling he will get his perfect game before the season is over. At any rate, starting out the year, breaking records and having long winning streaks, didn't help Texas much in 2012. Maybe saving some of that energy for later in the season will help.

If I could send him a little encouragement, I'd like to say, Yu is kind, Yu is smart, and Yu is very important to our team.

Spring Fever

Well I finally got to see a couple of Spring training games this weekend, against the Cubs. Yesterday, the Rangers looked good, until the last two innings, when the score suddenly went from 8 to 2, to 8 to 5. But, they got it together in the end.
I was glad to see Robbie Ross start. It may take him a couple of games to make the transition from reliever to starter, but apparently, he was a starter in  the minors. Good to know.
It's also good to know A J Pierzynski is one of the good guys now.
Someone, I think will be fun to watch this year is, third baseman, Joey Gallo. I'm not sure how much playing time he will get with Adrian Beltre around, but I'm glad to have them both.
I hope this will be Craig Gentry's year to shine. I really like watching him play. He seems to enjoy the game.
Also, I look for Murphy to be the star we all know he is.
It looks like the pitching issues have been addressed, and I think it's going to be a fun season.

I have had my blog, You Can't Suck In Back Fat, aka The Bipolar Express, since 2009.  It has become so random, I thought I would try a new one, just to write about baseball. Texas Rangers baseball, to be exact.

There are a few things about me, you need to know. First of all, I am not an expert on baseball, I just love the game. What I write here, will be my opinion, nothing more. I take myself seriously, but you don't have to.
Also, I have a deep dislike for the Boston Red Sox, and an even deeper, darker, festering dislike for the New york Yankees. I didn't say hatred, but dislike. I don't hate anyone, no matter who they play for.
I am a "music Nazi". I will never try to tell you how to live your life, but I will insist you listen to good music while you're living.
I'm not afraid of dying. I am, however afraid of dying naked. My husband knows this, and has specific instructions on what to do before calling 911, and I never shower, when home alone.

Well, spring training has finally begun, and we are just a few weeks away from the 2013 season. I think it's going to be fun, seeing what all the new guys can do and I am just about over Michael Young. I was hoping he would choose to retire with the Rangers, but at least we won't have to watch him fade away.
On the other hand, Josh Hamilton is making it real easy to get over him. He has said some pretty nasty things about Rangers fans, lately. He should just shut up. Pudge never did interviews, when he left and Texas cheered him on every time he played the Rangers. Josh must be taking advice from ARod.
My favorite comment by Josh, was, "those that get it, will understand.". What?? You mean the intelligent fans?  Oh, we get it. It's about the money. Forget that Texas gave you a chance to regroup after your drug addiction. Forget that we saw you as a human being when you failed your drug test, and chose to forgive you when you went on your drinking binge. It's OK, we're just too stupid to "get it".
OK, got that off my chest.
